Balance weight depicting a female divinity

"Aequipodium" or counterweight from a set of (Roman) scales made of bronze filled with lead found in the port area of Tarraco, where it would have been used to weigh the merchandise entering or leaving the city.
Weighing an exceptional 38 kg, this is the largest known counterweight in the Roman world. It would have been used on a giant “statera” or steelyard able to weigh loads of 1,500 kg or more.
The female divinity could be “Aequitas” (Equity), the goddess of fair trade and honest merchants.
