Poornima Sukumar is a wall muralist, freelance artist, amateur anthropologist, story keeper and the founder of Aravani Art Project, a one of a kind collective for people from the transgender community, queer community, children, women and men to engage in the arts, especially in public spaces. Poornima’s life as a freelance artist and traveller took her to remote parts of India where she built friendships with some of India’s most marginalised people.She has collaborated and has been widely recognised for actively using art as an important medium, tool and a bridge to engage in deeper ways with various communities and in her own way caved a path for a beautiful amalgamation of the arts with social responsibilities.
