Serra de Tramuntana World Heritage Consortium

The Firó de Sóller is a festival that reenacts the victory of the people of Sóller against the Saracens in 1561. The Christians dress as peasants and carry the Cross of Saint George as their banner; the Saracens dress as pirates and identify themselves with the crescent moon. This festival is celebrated annually during the second week of May. The town of Sóller is transformed into a vibrant stage of history, tradition, color, emotion, and popular fervor.
