Meoktong, also called hanji, is an ink container designed to contain and carry ink. Since ink was generally used as soon as it was made, and storing ink for a long time rendered it useless, the ink container was not generally seen as a necessity. Containers were usually made of white brass or brass, assumed a round or cylindrical shape, and consisted of a body and a lid. The lid was made to fit with the body so that ink did not leak out of the container, while a small membrane inside the body prevented ink from splattering upward. On both sides of the body, pipes as tall as the body are attached to the container to allow a rope to pass through. Some ink containers are attached with a brush case to enhance convenience. The brush case attached to the container was in a ㄱ or ㅡ shape.
