Erdmute Esche (1903-1990) married Swiss C. J. Luchsinger in 1925; for the wedding, her father gave her a dining room piece of furniture by Henry van de Velde, which is now on loan from the Herbert Eugen Esche Foundation in the Villa Tobler. The Luchsinger couple lived in Küsnacht near Zurich; from 1945 her father stayed with them.
