The identity of the cool and proud lady is unknown. She could be a Florentine noble lady from Margherita de’ Medici’s court, come to the dukedoms of Emilia in 1628 to become Odoardo Farnese’s (1612-1646) wife. The smock of the rich dress with golden embroidery was heavily repainted.
