Veneitian painter Paolo Caliari, known as Paolo Veronese, (Italy, 1528-1588) is renowned for his diverse body of work, which includes intricate villa frescos, large alterpieces, as well as religious, mythological, historical, and allegorical portaits. A quintessential figure in the Venetian School of Painting, Veronese studied the works of famed predecessors Raphael, Romano, Parmigianino, and Michelanglo under Veronese painter Antonio Badile. Much of Veronese's work is inspired by Mannerist art with close attention paid to color and complex figure and archieture. Subsequently, his work inspired artists such as Sebastiano Ricci and Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.
