Of unknown provenance, the painting shows us the portrait of a young man whose body is shown in profile, while the face is shown in three-quarters view. His wavy hair and not particularly immaculate clothes give this work a very natural, informal look. Art historians date it to the last decade of the artist’s work, due to “the blurred, rather ill-defined brushstroke... and the simplicity and immediacy with which the sitter is rendered”.
