Portrait of a youth as a sculptor

Fra Galgario1730 approx.

Sforzesco Castle

Sforzesco Castle

Fra’
  Galgario
is known for his beautiful portraits commissioned by the nobility of
Bergamo and the political elite of Milan, but also for his production of “
heads of character”, of which this canvas is a wonderful example. In this painting, comparable with the contemporary Portrait of a Youth as an Artist, the
painter tried to pass on individual traits by transfiguring their features in
  a physiognomic model.
