Alfonso Maria Visconti (1807-1887), descendant of a minor branch of the Dukes of Milan, knight of the Crown of Italy and ordinance officer of His Majesty, leaves his property to the hospital: in his will he explicitly asks to be embalmed, having the fear of being buried alive, and that the portrait is executed by Giuseppe Bertini, who very much collaborates with the hospital Picture Gallery and who realizes it having as a model a large photograph.
