Throughout his fifty-year career, Konstantin Danil was remembered as a 19th century Banat chronicler. As a sought-after painter of the Banat elite, he worked on orders from private clients and church officials. His approach to portraiture was largely based on emphasizing the model's image. All other elements, such as expensive jewellery, precious materials and other details, were overpowered by the face of the model. Danil applied the same manner in the Portrait of an Unknown Citizen, shown in half profile, with underlined reddish colour on his cheeks, typical of Danil's accent of the incarnated.
