Angela Bottini Maffini does not directly benefit the Maggiore Hospital; benefactor is Giacinto, the son, who expressly asks to execute the portrait of his mother and not his own. The father of Giacinto Bottini (1852-1933) is the owner of a goldsmith specialized in the creation of enamelled jewels, but the young man does not continue the family business: a qualified accountant, he works all his life in the administration of a Milanese company. He was chosen as a testamentary executor by various benefactors of the Maggiore Hospital; already in life it benefits different Institutions and Institutions, among which the Sieroterapico Institute; in the will leaves Ca Granda as heir of 130,000, providing an annuity for a maid who had remained in his service for many years, and some donations for charitable institutions dear to his mother. The commission of the portrait of Angela Maffini is assigned to Oreste Bogliardi, a graduate of the Brera Academy who, having come into contact with the first Milanese abstractionists, paints a very faithful painting in the physiognomic representation, taken from a photograph, but which does not renounce to juxtapose well-defined areas of different colors between them that mark the composition in geometric backgrounds.
