Antonio Carnevali, benefactor of the Ospedale Maggiore while still alive, makes a will in favour of the institution which, at his death, in 1859, comes into possession of movable and immovable property. His portrait is commissioned from Domenico Induno, a renowned painter of excellent technique, who represents the benefactor in a natural pose on an undefined background. The face, depicted with precision and accuracy, has an excellent pictorial rendering.
