Cesarina Miani Riva (1886-1908) dies at the age of 22. The widower Francesco Riva had this portrait painted for his Milanese home by Enrico Ravetta, a Lombardi post-impressionist, in which a young woman holds in her arms a kitten and the "diablo", a wooden game in vogue in the 1920s, today produced with different materials. In 1916 he donated it to the Ospedale Maggiore, so that it could be posted in the atrium of the urological pavilion in her name. The picture gallery already possessed a portrait of the deceased, executed in 1909 by Achille Beltrame.
