Eugenia Rainoldi (1868-1938), comes from a wealthy family (her father Alberico, was a lawyer, the mother, wealthy) after her father and brother dying, she remains alone with her mother. She receives an excellent education, speaks several languages, travels a lot. Patronage of various charities, she also leads a brilliant social life. She does not marry. In the will appointing the universal heir of his conspicuous assets (almost 4 and a half million lire) the Maggiore Hospital in Milan, with the burden of many linked to relatives and welfare institutions, was built a Pavilion to be named after him, the parents and brother. Furniture, furnishings and jewelry are distributed among friends. The name of Antonio Pasinetti is suggested by a close friend for the execution of the portrait, but Lodovico Zambeletti is chosen instead, proposed by his relatives because he had known him: in fact he represents with care and precision the physiognomy of the face of the benefactor, expressing himself with brush strokes fast in the background and characterizing the dress more than in the details with light effects.
