Portrait of Frederick the Great

Frederick draws his sword as he bursts ahead of his retinue, his horse rearing mid-gallop. The king wears the uniform of a general, decked with a ribbon, and sports a braided tricorn hat. He turns as though attempting to inspire greater daring and enthusiasm amongst his hesitant, perhaps even fearful-looking, followers and cuirassier guard.
