Portrait of Gaetano Chiari

Gaetano Chiari (1755-1822), a trader in cloth, assigned his entire estate to the Maggiore Hospital. A dispute arises with the widow, who claims for herself half of the deceased's assets. The commission of the portrait to the painter Agostino Comerio, a member of the Accademia di Brera, who successfully participated in the annual exhibitions, is assigned at the end of the dispute.
