Portrait of Private George Washington Hill. Hill was born in Seattle, Washington in 1892, but was living in Alberta when he enlisted in 1915. He joined the 89th overseas batttalion and was transfered to the 10th battalion, Canadian Infantry (Alberta Regiment) in September of 1916. He was killed in action April 28, 1917 (most likely at the Battle of Arleux). His death is commemorated on the Vimy Ridge Memorial, Pas de Calais, France (record available).
