Portrait of Giacomo Attendolo Bolognini

Pietro Antonio Scorza1680/1681

Ca’ Granda – Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico

Ca’ Granda – Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico
Milan, Italy

Count Giacomo Bolognini, jurist and vicar of justice, left a legacy of 12,000 lire to the Maggiore hospital in 1680. In the hospital records a payment of 42 lire was indicated to the painter Pietro Antonio Scorza, of whom there is no biographical information. It is difficult to evaluate the artist from this portrait, because it was heavily repainted, perhaps during a nineteenth-century restoration.
