Giovan Battista Marietti (1746-1826), from a very poor family at the beginning (there were sixteen brothers), thanks to the commitment and ability of his father who manages to open various shops to which he makes some of his children managers, he becomes a wealthy merchant of ribbons and silks; he erected an oratory in the municipality of Bolzano d'Orta, leaving sufficient funds for a daily mass to be celebrated. He appoints the Maggiore Hospital as his heir to his furnishings and property.
