Humphry Repton (1752-1818) was born in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and became head gardener at Hampton Court Palace, following on from 'Capability' Brown. He was the first designer to use the title of 'landscape gardener' and his numerous designs included, Blaise Castle, Bowood, Plas Newydd, Sheffield Park, Sheringham Park, Woburn Abbey and Russell Square.
