Three-quarter length portrait of Sir Isaac Newton, seated, wearing a wig and dressed in a rust-brown coat over a black waistcoat, with a white neck-cloth and white shirt cuffs visible. Newton’s right index figure points to a table top upon which is a chronometer or watch with a black ribbon on which is a seal and key. An ink well is placed on the table. Isaac Newton was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1672, he served as its President from 1703 to 1727.
