The Wilanów Palace Museum
Warsaw, Poland

Jan Dobrogost Krasiński, the voivode of Płock, was one of the most loyal friends and advisers of King John III Sobieski. The author of the portrait was brought over from Italy by the Pac family around 1674. After the Battle of Vienna he worked predominantly for John III Sobieski and Krasiński. After the death of the monarch, his prime patron was Krasiński, and Palloni moved from Warsaw to Węgrów. The portrait from Wilanów collection originates from a period when Krasiński was already gravely ill and shows him sitting in an armchair.
