Albertina Nunes Pereira settled in Rio de Janeiro and became a very successful artist in the first decades of the twentieth century. Already adopting Jandyra Aymoré as her artistic name, she performed as a singer at the Companhia Negra de Revistas, the first theater group in Brazil composed entirely of Black performers. It was in this context that, on a certain night in July 1926, she met Pixinguinha, whom she married and the reason why she abandoned her artistic career. Albertina, Jandyra or simply Beti died in June 1972.
