Luigi Corti (1815-1889), a wealthy merchant, named heir to his daughter Luigia, who scrupulously fulfills the legacies expected by her father in the will in favor of various charitable institutions. With her husband Giuseppe Botta, the lady, with her will on August 23, 1900, allocated a sum to the Maggiore Hospital for the construction of the "Sala dei Convalescenti", asking that the two portraits of her father and husband be posted in it . The one by Luigi Corti is performed by Eleuterio Pagliano, who represents it in an unusual way for hospital iconography, outdoors, in a public park, with the iridescent background and the fountain gushing.
