Luigia Monnot Corti, adopted daughter of Luigi Corti (in memory of whom she had made a donation to the Ospedale Maggiore in 1899) and wealthy widow of Giuseppe Botta, who in turn was a benefactor of the Ca 'Granda, died on June 13, 1901 in Bellagio (Como), after appointing the hospital as heir to a patrimony of about 550,000 lire; he asked to honor numerous legates, including the obligation on the part of the Hospital to reserve twenty places in the convalescence area for the most needy in perpetuity.
