This ceremonial portrait of Queen Maria Casimire was painted after the coronation in 1676. Due to the similarity of Maria Casimire's facial features to her image in the 'Dawn' plafond (Mirror Study in the Wilanów palace), attributed to Jan Reisner, some scholars assume that it might have been painted in the early 1680s, before the Battle of Vienna.
