  • Subject: Maria Clementina was the granddaughter of King John III Sobieski. She married James Edward Francis Stuart, but the marriage was extremely unhappy. Maria Clementina left her husband and went to live in the Santa Cecilia convent in Rome. She spent time praying and died at the age of 32. She is buried in St. Peter's Basilica; Pietro Bracchi erected a monument to commemorate her.
