Portrait of Michele Pintacuda

Gallery of Modern Art "Empedocle Restivo"
Palermo, Italy

This painting is a sort of nuptial diptych together with the Portrait of Madame Pintacuda. Lo Forte loved visual celebrations and here he skilfully depicts the developing bourgeoisie culture of the 1800s. The protagonist is portrayed while he is reading the newspaper framed by an essentially defined environment, with a red curtain opening onto a sketched landscape, conveying an atmosphere of domestic and private daily life.
