Ding Yanyong, courtesy name as Shudan, Xiaohu, born in Maoming, Guangdong province. In 1920 he studied sketch in Kawabata Painting School and then entered Tokyo School of Fine Arts, under the instruction of Wada Eisaku. In 1925 he returned to Shanghai, taught western painting in Shanghai College of Art. In 1949 he settled in Hong Kong. After 1957 he served as teacher and the chairman of Fine Arts Department, New Asia College. In 1973 he held exhibition Paris.
