This drawing is made on the other side of the Portrait of Joan Canellas support, ca. 1896-97
Despite the almost diffuse state of the sketch, which barely stains the paper and responds in general lines to the characteristics of point of view, composition, graphic treatment, ease and formal precision of the portraits made by Gargallo in these last years of the century, we have the impression - not induced by the coincidence of the support - that it may be another attempt at a portrait of Joan Canellas, judging by the general features of the face, but above all considering the arrangement of the hair on the forehead and very particularly the appearance of the eyes and the fixity and intensity of the gaze.
