A charrette is a meeting where all stakeholders attempt to solve a problem together. This image from the Lewis Family papers shows white people and black people meeting together, possibly to discuss school desegregation of schools in Durham, NC, circa 1970. The Lewis Family Papers largely concerns an African American family from Raleigh. J. D. Lewis worked for Capital Broadcasting Company in the 1950s and 1960s.
