Inscription on back of card, transcribed: "Dear Marion, This shows Leas Theatre. Mostly underground. Tea at tables in afternoon. All musical singing &c. [Illegible] walls with sea out to right. France 21 miles away. Ray"

Related to the service of Lt. Raymond B. Penniman, Company A, Royal Canadian Regiment, 7th Brigade, 3rd Canadian Division, BEF. Killed in Action (KIA) on the Somme Front in October 1916.
