Hadfield is a town in the High Peak area of Derbyshire, lying on the board with Greater Manchester and close to the village of Glossop. At the time of the Domesday survey Hadfield had belonged to William the Conqueror. Hadfield is known for its cotton spinning industry, corn mills having been converted to the manufacture of cotton in the 19th century.

The Booker Prize winning author Hilary Mantel’s used Hadfield as inspiration for the town of Featherhoughton in her novel Fludd.
