A photographic postcard of two gardeners planting a public garden in a parterre style at Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire. An adjacent notice states, ‘W.W. Barron, Landscape Gardeners & Nurseryman, Elvaston Nurseries, Borrowash, Derby’. William Barron (1805-1891) was head gardener to the Earl of Harrington at Elvaston Castle and subsequently purchased 40-acres of land to establish a nursery, which was continued by his family after his death.
