Postcard with a view of Union Depot in Kansas City, Mo. Union Depot was located in the West Bottoms of the city, below the bluff that the city was built on. Union Depot was opened in 1878 and worked well for shipping packaged meat and cattle produced at the famous stockyards nearby. After years of flooding and related issues, Union Depot was closed the day after Kansas City's new improved station, Union Station, was opened on October 30, 1914.
