Buxton Opera House was built in 1903 and is one of the country’s finest Edwardian theatres designed by Frank Matcham, affectionately known as "The Theatre in the Hills". It is Grade II* listed and welcomes over 210,00 visitors, 500+ participants and 170 volunteers each year. It hosts Buxton International Festival, the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival and the Buxton Fringe Festival annually.
