The Kharkiv All-Ukrainian GOSET opened in 1925 with the play Purim-Spiel (Jewish farce). Director and author of the texts Ephraim Leuter, painter Issahar-Ber Rybak, choreographer Elena Wolf. The production was created in the genre of folk farce. The biblical story of the wise Queen Esther and King Ahasuerus was shown in the form of popular theatrical and musical reviews. Thus the characters of the biblical drama became the heroes of modern history. Critics noted the original design, bright carnival grotesque costumes and music by composers Leo Pulver and Schimenen Steinberg.
