Produced and directed by Raj Kapoor, the super-hit film Bobby (1973) was reportedly written by K. A. Abbas in three days. The film launched Kapoor's son, Rishi Kapoor, in his first leading role, opposite newcomer Dimple Kapadia in her debut role. Bobby became the top-grossing Indian film of the year when it was released and was not just popular in India but also in the Soviet Union, where Raj Kapoor and his films enjoyed immense popularity.
