The social drama Hamara Ghar (1964) took up the theme of national integration and featured children from various backgrounds, who get marooned on an island and must work together in order to survive. Directed by K.A. Abbas, the film won awards at several international film festivals, including the Special Jury Prize at the Festival of Children's Films at Gottwaldov, Czechoslovakia.
