Poster produced for the film 'Madhumati', produced and directed by Bimal Roy, and released in the year 1958. Written by Ritwik Ghatak and Rajinder Singh Bedi, the film starred Vyjayanthimala and Dilip Kumar in the lead roles, alongside Jhonny Walker and Pran as supporting characters. One of the earliest films to deal with themes of reincarnation, it had a gothic noir feel to it — and was the first and only collaboration between Roy and Ghatak. It was a major commercial success, as the highest grossing film of the year, alongside winning the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and nine Filmfare Awards.
