Seoul, South Korea

The taepyeongso is a double reed instrument. It has a conical wooden body with a metal mouthpiece and a cup-shaped metal bell, called the dongpallang. It also has eight finger holes like the piri, but the position of the hole at the back is different from the piri.
With the loud and piercing sound it is mostly arranged in for outdoor music, such as farmer's music, marching band music, and the royal ancestral shrine music.
