Kang’s 3x3-inch format painting, which fits neatly into the palm of a hand, is complete in itself; or it appears on a wall in a composition of several hundred, or several thousand similar pieces, conveying trivial everyday experience and fragmentary thoughts. POTASSIUM PENCIL, made of 700 3x3-inch canvases, demonstrates a unique, enormous landscape, covering the small images in thick brushstrokes. With playthings, stationery, and other daily items, the work visually represents a globalized, hybrid culture in which art and daily life, Eastern and Western factors, mix together. This Kang has christened the Bibimbap(mixed meal) Culture.
