This is a copy made by Thomas Mesker in 1885 of the painting of Paulus Potter, a Dutch painter, 1625-1654, called the Young Bull. The original hangs in the art gallery of the Hague.

A hole in the foreleg of reclining animal and in ground were reportedly shot by John C. Coble while hanging in the Cheyenne Club bar.
