The prayer book of Chevra Kadisha of Óbuda is a good example how Jewish associations and individuals used handwritten and richly decorated prayer books long after the invention of printing. The title page of the Óbuda prayer book follows the form of the printed Hebrew books. The thin lines imitate the copper engravings. The title page of the book is decorated with a silver plate with a date (1844) and the names of the leaders of the Chevra Kadisha. Interestingly, the silver plate was originally used for other purposes, since the silver mark of 1821 was earlier than the book itself.
