The Brandon Estate was built in 1958 by the London County Council to designs by the architect and town planner Edward Hollamby. The estate initially included six eighteen-storey tower blocks, maisonettes, bungalows and family homes, and also included the restoration of Victorian terraced houses. In 1961, the London County Council purchased the Henry Moore statue 'Two Piece Reclining Figure No.3' and installed it on the estate.
