Around 1928, Swift and Company began producing a new version of creamy peanut butter that was "churned" during processing, making creamy peanut butter different from other contemporary brands and similar to the product we still recognize. The company made OZ brand peanut butter, based on L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard of OZ" and utilizing illustrations from one edition of that book. Around that same time, Swift's came out with another brand called "Peter Pan," which is still in production. Swift's advertised its OZ brand with many different kinds of premiums, including a mobile decoration for a child's room.
