Preparatory sketch

This is a study drawing for the companion piece to the works depicting fish. In finished versions it has the title "Autumn Window, Peaceful Interior". A large squash dominates the picture, surrounded by sweetcorn, radishes, chestnuts, mushrooms, and a leaf basket containing cherries and pomegranate, among others. Three large insects hover and creep, as well as a trail of ants. Given the two annotations, this may be a study by Ishibashi, with the teacher’s comments.
