Preservation of South African Musical Traditions

The preservation and study of indigenous African musical traditions are cultural priorities in post-apartheid South Africa. This project, which involves the documentation of traditional music and its transcription into standard staff notation for preservation and use, directly supports the U.S. embassy’s efforts to advance shared values and promote respect for cultural diversity.
