President Jomo Kenyatta’s body taken to his home in Gatundu

President Jomo Kenyatta’s body being taken to his home in Gatundu, about 35 miles from Nairobi, where it spent the last night before the burial. Here the body is on the Commander-in-Chief’s military car being driven to his home in Gatundu. 30th August, 1978. The country went into deep mourning for its favorite son, and Kenya’s renowned photojournalist Mohamed Amin, also known as ‘Six Camera Mo’, covered the state funeral and swearing in of Kenyatta’s successor, and former vice-president, Daniel Arap Moi.
